Standing water in a dishwasher may be a result of a clogged line or that the dishwasher drain line is not installed correctly. Generally a clog does not form in the dishwasher line itself because dishwashers have a screen blocking the bigger debris. However, it is worth exploring and fixing. A messed up dishwasher does no one any good and can lead to increased costs via wasted water and other issues.
Where to Look
The clog normally occurs in the drainage piping under a kitchen sink. More often than not, if your kitchen sink is stopped up, then your dishwasher is also stopped and vice versa. We will describe in the next post the proper way to install your dishwasher drain line.
